The Door Master

Do you see these?....

They are getting put on all our exterior doors, the basement door, the pantry door and finally Ryan's inside knob on his bedroom door. WHY...you may ask? Well here's a little story for your enjoyment...

A little flashback ~ In the past week, Ryan learned how to finally turn the knobs to make a door open. He is quite excited about this, as any 2.5 year old would be. He's been practicing his new talent instead of taking naps and in return, we have a cranky kid on our hands which hasn't been fun.

Today ~ It's nap time and I decided to catch up on some much neglected laundry. As I was about to turn on the washer (our laundry room is on the 2nd floor of our house- yes we know how lucky we truly are!), I hear his door knob start to rattle. I quickly jump over the laundry and grab his door knob from the outside and hold it tight! Hah HA!

We play tug of war for at least a minute (he has no clue that mommy is holding the door!) and finally he gives up. And this is what I hear... "Hmmmm....it's stuck." Then he mumbles something I don't understand and I hear him climb back into bed. SUCCESS!...hope this teaches him to stay in bed and take that nap! Doubt it...but a mommy can dream, right? :)

So today's score is:
Mommy ~ 1 Ryan ~ 0

wow - we haven't had that problem during nap times, but we did have to set some guidelines for bed time. t would get up in the middle of the night and make his way into our room and snuggle between us and we'd never wake up (thank goodness for the top-of-stairs gate)...our new rule is if he wakes up, he can only come over now if the sunshine is out.

it's been working now for several months...hopefully i didn't just jinx myself.

He's a smart little kid! That's a funny story...we have the door handles that you have to push down or lift up (Push down is easier) so we don't have the what I call the "twist" knobs and my cat has learned how to open the door!!! He jumps up and pushes it down!!!
