Easter- 2008

Ryan's Easter Eggs

Am I the only one who felt a bit strange celebrating our Spring Holiday~Easter so early this year? I still can't get over that St. Patty's Day and Easter fell in the same week! Chris and I also celebrated 8 wonderful years together on Easter Day this year! March 23rd was the anniversary of our first date...I can't believe how much our lives have changed over the past 8 years! It has been a crazy fun journey so far and I can't wait to see what the future holds!

In case you didn't know this one thing about me, I LOVE TRADITIONS. Every year, we attend church on Palm Sunday. This year, our darling son came down with Roseola on Palm Sunday weekend, so we actually attended the Easter service before heading up to see Chris' family in Hazleton. Ryan is usually very good in church (even my mother in law is shocked when we tell her how well behaved and quiet he can be during church services...he LOVES the music!) but Easter Sunday proved to be a challenge this year! He didn't exactly use in his 3-inch indoor voice! He was not in the mood to sit still or listen to anything mommy and daddy had to say. Needless to say, we spent a good amount of time taking turns taking him to visit the bathroom (our church needs a "quiet room!). The only funny thing that happened this year was Ryan clapping and saying "YEAA!" after each song. I believe Pastor Gould even chuckled a few times. One of the members joked after the service with telling Ryan that he didn't have to praise our organist that much...I believe he said, "he isn't that great!" Sure he misses a few notes here and there but I love Mr. Massey!

As with most holidays, we do a lot of traveling due to Chris' family living over an hour away. It is always worth it because we don't get to see them very often. This year I decided to start another tradition of dyeing Easter Eggs at Nanie's (Chris' grandmother) house. It was a lot of fun to see Ryan dye his 1st eggs! Grandmom High also had a mini egg hunt set up for Ryan and we were surprised how well he was able to find the eggs. Even his teacher at school said he was the best in his class at finding even the hardest eggs at their egg hunt!

**enjoy the following pics of Ryan dyeing his 1st Easter Eggs!**

Saturday, March 29th ~Community Egg Hunt

Our community decided to throw their annual egg hunt the Saturday after Easter this year. I was able to get off work this year and we had a great family day together on Saturday! It was a bit chilly for an egg hunt but Ryan didn't seem to mind too much. Below are a few pics from this year's egg hunt and I also found a pic of his 1st community egg hunt in 2006! We missed last year due to work and I have vowed not to miss another egg hunt again! See how important traditions are to me?! ENJOY! :)

Waiting to start the egg hunt!

and he's OFF!

How many eggs can I fit in this basket?

trying new things...

New layout! Sorry- it's been a while since my last post! I am still "playing" with all the settings and learning how use the different options. I feel like I need to go back to college and take a "Blogging 101" course!!!!!!

For now...here is the layout I picked...I am sure it will change. I have a few posts to include before the month ends on Monday so look for them this weekend.

Please check out the FRIENDS addition to the sidebar (on the right side)! I added my good friend Christy D's blog to it. She is the BLOG MASTER in my books and I hopefully will be just as good as her someday! ;)

~Princess Jaylin~

On Saturday, March 8th we celebrated Jaylin Marie Hope Gaston's 2nd birthday!

It was so nice to spend time with the Gaston & Richards families. In our small group of friends, we have a total of 4.5 children. Jaylin was the 1st girl to join the gang and of course EVERYONE can't wait for Kara to arrive. Our boys~Owen (5), Caleb (4) and Ryan (2) will most likely always out number the girls but we wouldn't have it any other way!

I noticed that little girl's birthday parties are VERY different from little boys! The biggest difference being that the gifts are mostly clothing/shoes! AND the little girls are always excited to receive these gifts! We found out that Jaylin has a HUGE obsession with shoes. It was so cute to see how excited she got when she opened a pair of shoes. **check out the photo above~she tried on all the shoes but settled on these for the remainder of the night! Such a princess!**

A New Beginning....

Welcome to the High Family Blog!

After over a year of reading them, I finally decided to join them! Many thanks to Christy D. and Keffie for introducing me to the world of blogging. I am so excited to be able to share our events, thoughts and experiences with family, friends and bloggers around the world! Now instead of waiting for an email update on The High Family, you can simply check out our new site. So here we go--hang on tight and enjoy the High Family journey...

Today we finally (after 24 weeks of waiting!) found out what the gender of our baby will be. It's a GIRL!!!! Guess we can change the profile portion of this site now! It's so exciting to actually have an answer to give people when they ask if it's a boy or girl. The next question is, "Do you have a name picked out?"--I love that I can answer this question as well! Chris and I decided that our little girl will be named Kara. We are still debating what middle name to pick. I am really leaning towards Ellasyn but it's taking everyone a little longer to fall in love with this name!

KARA ELLASYN HIGH -- I love it...do you? :)

**We have one of the worst ultrasound techs so I apologize for the quality of our u/s picture. It's supposed to be a slight view of her profile. I believe her hand is covering her face so it's hard to see her nose and mouth. If you look really hard, you will see an ear!**
