oh HAPPY day...

Can you guess what my son did tonight?

He ate this....

in this....

Ryan has been fighting us for over a year with eating vegetables! Tonight we thought it would be the same struggle at the dinner table. Us telling him to try just one carrot and him saying, "ewwww...it's yucky." Instead as I took a bite and said, "mmmmm, it is so good daddy. Thank you for making this scrumptious soup!" Ryan took a scoop (with a carrot on it!) and repeated what I said, "mmmm, it's yummy daddy!" He ate the entire bowl without pushing the vegetables (there was celery and onion in the soup as well) aside.

YAY...oh HAPPY day!

That was not a picture of my husbands yummy beef barley soup. I didn't think to grab the camera while eating his delicious soup tonight. Trust me, it looks just like the above photo!

This Christmas I received this adorable apron (ok, I totally ordered it and told Chris that this was from him). Isn't it the cutest thing?! I feel like a domestic goddess when I wear it.

I also received this awesome cookbook by Jessica Seinfeld.

It has a ton of yummy recipes made with vegetable and/or fruit purees hidden in them. I just finished reading it and once we buy a steamer, I am going to turn into a puree making fool! Chris and I also have a problem with eating out of our "comfort zone" of veggies. We have been together for almost 9 years and we have NEVER bought or eaten spinach, broccoli, cauliflower or even squash! This cookbook as a recipe for brownies that has spinach hidden in it! So I am hoping we can all benefit from this cookbook. Wish me luck....Chris usually does all the cooking in our house. I think I will create posts after I make the recipes with pictures so everyone can see the end result AND if my family could taste the hidden ingredients or not!

Holiday Review (part two) post coming soon....

Bobbi,

It is very encouraging to hear from another mom with a small baby. How is the introduction to solid food going? Congrats on getting Ryan to eat vegetables. I hope Kara takes to them soon too! Addie is not a huge fan of solids in general.

We have been stationed at Ft. Drum, NY for 5 years, but I am currently staying at my parents house in Virginia. Thank you for your service as well.

Luckily we have not had to pay co-pays for all of the weight checks. Gotta love the military insurance. But I will say that going to the doctors office has taken an emotional toll on us. Especially because Addie gains about 1 oz a week, and they want to see a 3-5 oz gain. I also get a lot of family input on what I should be doing to remedy the situation. Addie was diagnosed with reflux at 3 months, but the symptoms have pretty much gone away. Has Kara had any reflux?

Sorry for the long comment again

That's so wonderful that he ate his veggies!! Good work Ryan! You'll have to let me know how that cookbook is. The King gave me a vegetarian cookbook and I LOVE it. And may I say that your apron is simply SMASHING?! I gave you an award over at my place!!

Bobbi .. Im not sure if you saw my response to you on my blog since it was so late so I was going to post it here too! Bobbi ..

Our stockings are from Pottery Barn. They have them every year so thats why we got those (later if we add to the family they will still have them) They come in other colors too. (green, red, etc.) If you wait for the sale or until after christmas they are also on a HUGE clearance. I think ours were $5 - $9 with our names on them too and I ordered them when they offered free shipping. Hope that helps! Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog!

You & your family are precious! Brooke
