Election Day ~ 2008

I voted. Did YOU?

I did not, however, receive a nifty "I Voted" sticker like you see in the picture above. Did they not hand these out in PA or were the elderly women who signed me in really not with it today. If you voted at the Spring Twp building, you might agree it could have just been the ladies.

I was excited to vote today. This marks my FIRST presidential election vote. It took me 30 years to vote (well 12 if you count when I was finally legal at 18) for the first time. It wasn't until I had Ryan that I realized it was important for me to "have a voice." I want to make this country and the world a better place for my children to grow up in. I still remember taking Ryan with me and voting for the Governor of PA in 2006. I had just turned 30 and Ryan was about to turn 1 that November. It was fun and educational.

I felt proud to vote today. One of the main reasons I hadn't voted in the past is because I never had an interest in it. I can still remember having a mock election in Elementary School and voting for Dole only because he shared his name with fruit. I never fully understood politics. I still don't but at least I want to try to understand now. I want to teach my children the importance of our government. I can't wait to teach them all about this great nation we live in. How lucky we are to have our Freedom.

I was apart of making history today. One day my children might ask where I was or who I voted for in the 2008 Election. I will be proud to tell them that they were right there with me as we stood under that little curtain in the small office room. I will let Ryan know that he helped push the "green VOTE button" with me. They were apart of making history too. That's such a great feeling.

So who did I vote for? Well I will let Ryan tell you....
