a final transition....

Two doors. Two little ones sleeping peacefully...

After almost 8 months, Kara is finally sleeping in her crib, in her own room. Yes, we realize most people make this transition soon after bringing their newborns home from the hospital. We even had Ryan in the crib by 4 months of age. I can't give a specific reason why we kept her in our room almost double that...maybe because she is very petite or the fact that we loved having her close to us but the time had come for Kara to move into her room and sleep in her crib.

This beautiful bassinet pack-n-play was given to us from Chris' Uncle Paul and Aunt Adrienne when we were pregnant with Ryan. I decided last minute to add it to our registry because we knew with breastfeeding it would be easier to have the baby in our room for those first few months. This gift quickly became our favorite and I am happy that we were able to use it as much as we did with both our children. Thanks Paul and Adrienne!

Isn't this toile beautiful?!

Kara is under 15 lbs in weight but she is long in length. She is also moving and scooting around now so the bassinet in our little pack-n-play just wasn't large enough for our mover and shaker anymore. On Saturday (1.31.09) night, we placed her in her crib and hoped for the best. We would soon find out that she wasn't going to take to the transition well. She woke up every two hours throughout the entire night. I felt like we had a newborn on our hands again! Sunday night was a little better and last night she slept from 11pm until 9:45 this morning. YAY! Tonight, Kara went to bed without hassle so I hope to have another successful night of sleep!

Here's our little one asleep in her comfy crib.

As we packed away the bassinet, I couldn't help but tear up. This simple gift holds so many memories for me...it held my babies, kept them safe and close to us. I am in disbelief how quickly our children are growing up...I wish I could slow down time. We haven't decided if we are going to have more children someday. For now we think Kara may be our last...so this could be the last time this adorable bassinet resides in our room.

Now I make the walk down our hallway to peek into two doors and watch our little ones sleep. What was once a dream has become a reality and I feel blessed.

This was such a cute post. Once again, I can definitely relate to you. I kept Addie in our bedroom for a long time (almost 6 months), at which point she outgrew her bassinet. I still miss sleeping in the same room as her. Kara looks so sweet sleeping in her crib though!

I just found out that I'm showing one of the lervicks horses in "piaff" Here's a link and you can watch this gorgeous stallion do piaff. This is what I will do with an older stud.

I can only hope for the best. I am scared to leave though. I get really home sick when I'm gone from my cat and my Mom. Anyways, I am going to love it! I'm happy! I can't wait! I'll come back and post with many pics!
